The date: October 5, 2009.  The setting: George Washington University.  The host: CNN and its award winning correspondent Christiane Amanpour.  The geo-topic: Chinada.

The interview aired on CNN during the 11-12 a.m. PT time slot on October 10th.  It was peppered throughout with communiqués that reiterated what’s been said repeatedly over the last three and a half years of diplomacy.   What was in the fore of everyone’s minds was October 2nd’s gruesome use of stealth cognition technologies; so it wasn’t surprising that the event was geo-politicized in the manner that it was.

Of interest was the following:

(i)                 Christiane employed the diplomatically coercive ‘gun under the chin’ Spielberg Maneuver several times to deliver her views that lethal military force and the death penalty are appropriate; and

(ii)                The very last clip of the interview involved the Secretary of Defense executing a Clooney Maneuver to “We will use air power to defend our own troops”.  The general public heard a reference to Afghanistan.  The East-West diplomatic corridor audience was instructed to appreciate that every resource the U.S. military has will be deployed to ensure that when the Custodian Chief is made ready for his departure to the United States the option of using air assets to avoid anticipated complications of ground transportation is available.  This mirrors what President Obama stated about using a helicopter if necessary as documented in The Coalition Makes it Clear It Will Use Every Asset and Strategy to Ensure the Custodian Chief Executive Safely Makes it to Washington.
